Dream Kids Holiday Programme

About Dream Kids Holiday Programme

Touch a Million launched the Dreamkids Holiday Programme in July 2018, at Steve Tshwete Municipality, Mhluzi Middleburg, in partnership with the Mpumalanga Department of Social Development.

The school holiday programme aims to address and provide learner psychosocial support in rural and peri-urban areas.

The programme provides a safe and engaging environment for learners to interact, socialise and engage with their peers, providing social protection over the school holidays period.

What We Offer

The Programme
Content Includes

  • These sessions address various social ills that both young and older children face in their homes, communities and at schools, from alcohol abuse, teenage pregnancy to bullying. Learners are encouraged to speak out, encouraged to make better choices as well as given details of places of safety and agencies that they can contact for (further or continuous) help.

  • Through our partnership with the Google Accredited Trainee, the literacy program covers basic animated coding for learners, and an entry to Google’s Certified Literacy Program to youths - giving them the opportunity to earn a spot to other digital content for the youth to move from learning-to-earning - as well as to expose learners to 4th Industrial Revolution.

  • These sessions are driven by educational movies and documentaries, which are used to engage the learners. The content lead encourages learners to openly discuss different social themes, their consequence as well as alternatives choices.

  • Interactive drama and oral performance sessions, where leaners are encouraged to tap-into their creative side, work as a team and create mini productions expressing themselves and to find their voice.

  • This is the educational entertainment nerve centre of the program, where indigenous games, board games, Scouts and teambuilding challenges are offered. There is space for team as well as individual games. Our Reading Corner is also located in the Impact Centre, offering a variety of books for the diverse attendees to enjoy.
